Danish Instrument Inventory text:
Dipping needle. Mahogany base 450x240. Rotatable case 435x130x500, front and rear are doors with glass panels. Inside is suspended a brass ring inner Dia310, outer Dia370. 2 parallel horizontal diametrical bars have bearing (appears to be quartz) at the centre of the circle for the magnetic needle and lift mechanism for same. Needle L307 lens shaped cross section. Scale on the ring 0-0 on the horizontal, 90-90 vertical. 3 Scales: 1:1 deg divisions. 2:1/2 deg divisions. 3:1/6 deg divisions.The instrument is made to the suggestions of Thomas Bugge (1740-1815) professor of astronomy at the university of Copenhagen.Not signed (the instrument is probably made by Johannes Ahl or Jeppe Smith)1800 app (g)
